Sim Lab: Racing & Flight Sim
Sim racing on real hardware, right on campus. And now we’re also building a full-scale flight simulator.
The Sim Lab is run by students, for students. The racing simulator is fully set up and ready to drive. At the same time, we’re working on bringing an Airbus A380 simulator cockpit back to life.

What’s in the rig:
- MOZA R25, 25 Nm direct drive wheelbase
- Three wheels: GT, rally, and truck
- H-pattern shifter
- Load cell pedals with a clutch
- Handbrake
- Triple monitor setup
- 10+ games and sims installed

Flight Simulator
The A380 Is Here
After a long wait and a successful transport, an Airbus A380 simulator cockpit has officially arrived at Sim Lab.
Right now, we’re unpacking and cleaning everything and checking which components are there. Getting the simulator fully operational will take quite a bit of work, so we’re looking for people who would like to help us bring it back to life.
What We’re Working On
- Base and assembly: Build the floor structure and mount the hardware and seats.
- Inventory and testing: Document the parts and check what works and what needs to be repaired.
- PC and projectors: Build the simulation PC and set up the projection system.
- Software integration: Connect the hardware to the simulation software and configure all inputs.
- A380 or A320: Decide whether to keep the original A380 layout or convert the cockpit into an A320 simulator.
We’re Looking for Help
There are plenty of ways to get involved:
- Hardware and software: Build PCs, run cables, test electronics, and carry out repairs.
- Fabrication: Woodworking and metalworking for the cockpit frame and floor.
- Design: Model replacement parts and produce them with a 3D printer.
- Systems and scripting: Analyse older hardware and develop suitable software interfaces.
Even if your skills don’t perfectly match any of these areas, you’re still welcome. There is plenty to do, and we’ll find a task that works for you.
