Professional photo lab for developing and enlarging yourself
The photo lab is located in the MM building, next to ASVZ Polyterasse and is equipped with an enlarger for 35mm and medium formats. The enlarger for sheet films is currently defective.
Paper enlargements are developed ‘the old-fashioned way’ by hand in trays. Of course, black and white films can also be developed yourself. Detailed instructions, various film tanks for different formats, and a professional film drying apparatus are available.
Price and Services
All chemicals for paper and film development are provided by SOSETH or are included in the lab usage fee. Only the photo paper must be brought by yourself.
You can use the photo lab as often as you like without further costs. Thanks to the electronic access system with the personal badge, this is possible 24 hours a day, all semester long. Reservation of the photo lab is conveniently done via the internet.
Please note: The use of the digital labs and the darkroom is permitted exclusively for non-monetary purposes.
Use of the Photo Lab
Membership in SOSETH is a prerequisite for using the photo lab. You can also become a member outside of the semester.
To use the photo lab, an introduction is mandatory. This introduction includes the ABC of black and white film development as well as enlarging and information on handling chemicals. After that, black and white films can be developed and enlarged yourself at any time.
Color films are developed together with the photo team depending on demand (C-41 development evening). Color enlargements can, however, be done yourself at any time (introduction upon request).
